Feeling Lethargic

I had big plans for today. Plans which involved a playgroup, an indoor playground, a fun shopping trip (for mommy) at the mall, and ending things with a stop at Target. Unfortunately, things didn't go as planned. We spent the the whole day curled up on the couch.

Little Man woke up this morning feeling unlike himself. First, he woke up but never got out of bed. He usually gets out of bed but today he just whined a bit and sat up a little. While I fixed him breakfast he sat on the couch watching Yo Gabba Gabba and never moved. Again, something totally out of character. Normally he'd run to the baby gate in front of the kitchen and stand there watching. After breakfast I gave him a bath and the boy just sat there. No standing up and walking back and forth across the tub. Something was NOT right and while I was drying him off he fell asleep. I took his temp and it was 102.6. This is the first time my baby's had a fever EVER. We've gone through hard things like a stay in the NICU, a spinal tap, a surgery but seriously seeing your child not like themselves is heartbreaking and never gets easy.

So I called the doctor and was told to give him Tylenol and switch to Motrin if that didn't help. Also feed him light meals like cereal and crackers along with pedialyte. Then see how he felt in the morning. He didn't even act this out of it when we both had a stomach bug around Christmas. He just wants to lay in my lap and tonight at bedtime he didn't even put up a fight. He laid down and went right to sleep. I'm hoping he feels better tomorrow. Time for me to hurry up and finish laundry so I can cuddle with him again.

  1. You might want to get him checked for an ear infection. That's how Moo was behaving when she had her 1st one. It freaked me out that I rushed her to the ER. Hopefully, it's not an ear infection & he will feel better in the morning. You can also stagger Tylenol with ibuprofen if his fever comes back.

  2. I will keep him in my prayers and hope that he gets better quickly. It is so hard to see your child not like themselves, and you wish that you could just suck the sick right out of them. I know that with Mommy's TLC, he will be back to normal in no time.

  3. @Yummommy - his fever seems to be going down so I'm hoping it was just some random virus like the nurse said people have been coming in with. Praying it's not an ear infection though because he hated taking the antibiotics when he got one around 7 months. His only symptom then was tugging his ears and he was going at them hard.

@mommiesatplay - thank you soo much.
